CT AYF State Predictions

Top 10 New England CTYFC Championship Predictions.

November 5th will be an eventful day at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, CT. The winner of Saturday's games will go on to represent the CTYFC in regionals and continue their chances of winning a bid to the AYF Nationals in Kissimmee, FL in December. Who will advance ???

8U - New Britain Hurricanes vs. Norwich Wildcats

  • To kick off the day with an early morning game, we have the undefeated NB Jr. Canes vs. Norwich Wildcats. These two teams faced one another in a week 4 matchup where New Britain pulled away with an 18-12 win. Since then, neither team has yet to lose and everything is on the line this upcoming Saturday. New Britain is playing in their hometown, but Norwich is out for revenge.

9U - Meriden Raiders vs. New Britain Hurricanes

  • New Britain’s future is bright with back-to-back championship games from their two youngest teams, and playing in their hometown makes for a fairytale ending. Unfortunately, this isn't a fairytale and the term “Raiders” couldn’t be more fitting. Meriden has been unstoppable all season and shutout New Britain during their week 7 matchup. We would live to see a competitive game, let's hope the Jr. Canes can keep it close.

Meriden 27

New Britain 6

10U - Bridgeport Chargers vs. Springfield Tigers

  • Given the history of these two teams, I would consider this a rivalry, and Saturday’s game will be the highlight of this rivalry. Bridgeport took advantage of mistakes made by Springfield the first time they played and beat them 26-0 in week 2. For anyone following, Springfield has been a different team after week 4’s brutal loss to Elm City, whom they just took care of this past weekend to advance. Bridgeport has been crashing parties all season, but neither one of these teams have been able to complete a 2 game sweep when they face each other more than once in a season. History may repeat!

Springfield 19

Bridgeport 14

11U Springfield Tigers vs. Meriden Raiders

  • This was the CTYFC’s preseason matchup of the year…until it wasn’t. Meriden traveled to Springfield week 1 and couldn’t generate any offense, being dominated all 4 quarters and losing 21-0. Adding insult to injury, Meriden lost their week 2 matchup against Hartford. Since then, Meriden has yet to lose a game, beating New Britain back to back weeks and securing their 4th CTYFC championship appearance. Everybody knows the track team and there’s not a team in New England who looks for as much “smoke” as they do. This attitude has separated them from the competition in their division. Let’s plan to see a good game, but if it’s not, don’t be surprised.

Springfield 20

Meriden 6

12U Springfield Tigers vs. Norwich Wildcats

  • Norwich is (last year’s) New London in red, and they’ve had the upper hand on this Springfield team since they entered the CTYFC in 2020. Freak is arguably the best 12 year old in New England, but Springfield has the X-factor, and their last two meetings have shown who the better team is now. The Tigers beat Norwich back to back weeks, dropping 46 points on them in each game. This may be the high-scoring matchup of the day, and though both teams are known for their offense, we will see if defense really does win championships. They say it’s hard to beat a team 3 times in one season…

Springfield 40

Norwich 26

13U Norwich Wildcats vs. New Britain Hurricanes

  • A replication of 8U’s matchup, but on different sides of the field. When these two teams met earlier in the season, Norwich dominated. This too is another past New London team who switched over to The Wildcats. This group of kids came into the CTYFC last year and shocked everyone by defeating Bridgeport’s 12U in the championship. Their offense is basic but effective, and if #23 gets to the second level, you may be in some serious trouble. The Jr. Canes have been beating teams they should beat, but Norwich is not one of those teams.

Norwich 30

New Britain 20

14U Springfield Tigers vs. Hartford Wildcats

  • Let’s be honest, this game shouldn’t be close. Hartford advances to the championship by default, having lost to two 13U teams, and Springfield has yet to be challenged outside of the 1st half against Norwich. Rumor is, they were missing a lot of starters that game and still convincingly handled business. It’s a late game, and if you’ve been following this Tiger’s team, you shouldn't be surprised if it ends early.

Springfield 38

Hartford 0

Best of luck and health, to all teams playing this weekend. You made it this far and that’s an accomplishment in itself. Don’t let these predictions get the best of you, it’s all in fun. If you don’t agree with the results, prove us wrong! We’ll be back with regional matchups!
