Top 10 New England AYF-New England Regional Championship Predictions
We are back with another exclusive Top 10 New England prediction. What we’ve all been waiting for, the New England Regional Championships! Games will be held on Sunday, 11/20/22 at Bryant University (RI). All winners will be advancing to nationals in Kissimmee, FL.
10U - Springfield (CT) Tigers vs. Derry (NH) Demons (8am)
Springfield has been on a very strong winning streak and so has this Derry team. This game is scheduled for 8 am and that could have a huge influence on how this game turns out. Both teams rely on their run game but neither team is afraid to throw. The winner of this game will be the team who runs the ball the best. There aren’t many running backs in New England that come close to Rylan Thresher, and after seeing Derry play, I don’t think they have an answer for Springfield’s run attack.
Springfield 27
Derry 6
11U - Springfield Tigers vs. CLCF Chiefs (10am)
At this point in the season, it really doesn’t matter what New England opponent matches up with The Track Team, they have their eyes set on Florida and have since August. CLCF is coming off of a close win vs. Bedford with hopes of upsetting Springfield. The last time this Springfield team played a Rhode Island team the game ended before halftime, let’s hope we can see 4 quarters of football during this 11U matchup. It’s looking like The Track Team will be back-to-back regional champs!

12U Springfield Tigers vs. CLCF (12pm)
CLCF is back in the regional championship after losing a shootout with New London last year. Springfield handled that same group of kids (now Norwich) 3 times this season, with the 3rd game being in the state championship. Rumor has it that CLCF’s stud player no longer plays on this team, and if this is true, they may struggle putting up points on this Springfield team. Springfield has a two headed monster in X. Thomas and A. Whaley, and you never know who’s going to go off but you do have to respect both players equally.
Springfield 31
CLCF 13
13U New Britain Hurricanes vs. Fairlawn Cardinals (2pm)
Fairlawn is looking for their 2nd consecutive regional championship in this matchup against New Britain, who many didn’t think would be here right now. This Hurricane is not localized and plans to destroy the entire 13U division in New England, and they’re one game away from doing so. Fairlawn has a super dynamic player in Sebastian Lora and after last week’s late win, I don’t think they’re going to take anyone lightly. Both of these teams have faced adversity this season, making this the Top 10 New England game of the week. I encourage everyone to catch this game.
Fairlawn 20
New Britain 12
Springfield Tigers vs. Everett Panthers
If you follow youth football in New England, then you know that this matchup has already taken place during the NEYT spring football championship game. Though both teams do not have key players from that season, the core of the teams are pretty much the same, but we will not solely base Sunday’s prediction off of the spring season. Everett has lost a couple of games to teams they should’ve beaten, and the closest Springfield win was by 19 points, with the lowest scoring game being 24, which happened in the state championship game. I think these teams are on two different ends of the 14U football spectrum.
Springfield 33
Everrett 6
Best of luck to all teams playing this weekend, you’ve made it this far! You’re a state champ, you advanced in the regional semi-finals, and you’re one game away from nationals. Regardless of Sunday’s outcome, you had one successful season!
