The New England 2021 Regional Championships 10u game took place at JFK Stadium in Bridgeport, Connecticut on a cool November 21st Sunday. Winners of these games qualify for the National Division 2 tournament in Florida, December 6th through 10th.
The first game of the day matched up undefeated Springfield Tigers (MA) (10-0) and Leominster Jr Devils (MA) (10-0). The Jr Devils won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. Amir Allen took the opening kick off back twenty yards, setting the tone for the Tigers. Remy Brown and Jah'mier Lawrence combined to rush the ball for 45 yards and De'Sean "Speedy" Auston punched in the first score of the game with a 3 yard touchdown run. The Jr Devils turned the ball over after going 4 and out. On Springfield's next possession K. Drayton ran the ball for 35 yards and Remy Brown connected with Jah'mier Lawrence for a 10 yard touchdown throw. On the next drive Leominster #7 punched in a touchdown run from 40 yards out, and converted the one point conversation. Springfield immediately answered back with a 60 yard De'Sean Auston touchdown run, and a one point conversion run by Ckyaire Sepeus. After the Jr Devils 6 play drive fizzled out, Springfield took possession at the 45 yard line. Remy Brown hit Nolan Bonney for a 10 yard completion. K Dog ran for a 5 yard gain and Ckyaire ran for two tough 5 yard gains. Auston ran for 5 yards, then Remy Brown hit Ckyaire Sepheus for a spectacular 25 yard touchdown throw. Sepheus out jumped the defensive back and took the pass off of the top of the defensive backs head. A questionable illegal man downfield penalty negated the pass. On the next play Remy hit Lawrence for a 30 yard fade pass for a touch down. The Tigers side lines and fans went crazy! The Tigers entered the half up 25 - 7.
The second half began with the Tigers kicking off to the Jr Devils, after both teams drives stalled out the Jr Devils scored on a dive up the middle. The punched in the extra point with a quarterback sneak, making the score 25 - 14. After a failed on side kick attempt by Leominster, the Tigers marched down the field with a huge 60 yard run from De'Sean "Speedy" Auston, extending the lead with a score of 31 - 14, #3 squirted down the sideline for a 50 yard run closing the led to 31 - 20. The Tigers quickly answered back with a 45 yard Jah'mier Lawrence run ending the scoring for the day and bringing us to the final score of 37-20.
